Sabato 1 aprile 2006 Link, via Fantoni 21 Bologna Led presenta ยme (Sonar Kollektiv, Berlino) Luca Mauro (Mainstreet rec., Bologna)

Can you tell me about Sonar Kollektiv? Kristian: Its a record label based in Berlin, Germany which was founded by Jazzanova. They decided to invest their money into a label that will release music they like. Half of the money that Jazzanova makes they invest in the label to release artists and the money comes back when the artists have released.
How long has the label been running for? Kristian: It started about four years ago
You played at the Berlin Nights at Carfax in Newtown, the event was part of German cultural week, celebrating 10 years of democracy in South Africa, How do you think the scene is here compared to Germany? Kristian: The music we like (Deep House) is more popular here than in Germany. In Germany its more Techno, Electro and more harder stuff. The soulful side of House is more popular in England and France, thats were we get most our gigs
What are you guys well for as AME? Kristi

an: Deep Soulful, Detroit type of House.
How did you and Frank meet? ( the other half of AME) Kristian: We live in the same town and I run a record shop there called Plattentasche which means Record Bag in German, we met at the shop, we played together at clubs since then weve been inseparable.
How did you get into the industry? Kristian: Dixon who was also playing at the Berlin Nights is a good friend of mine, weve known each other since the early 90s. We produced our first track and gave it to him and he signed us for his own label which he was run by Sonar Kollektiv at that time and thats how it happened.
Did you guys know anything about the South African House scene? Yeah we met all these guys at the Miami Winter Conference; Vinnie Da Vinci, Fresh, Monde, Oskido. We knew that House is big here, Charles Webster also came down here and he told us how great it is here. Ive got some records from Mafikizolo and BOP
What can we expect from your set at the 115 birthday party? It depends on the crowd, we played last week at Carfax and 115, we had a good time at 115, Carfax was too big which was not good for the music that we play. I think we will play Deep Tribal House.
